I recently started viola lessons with Brett. It's been awesome. He is a terrific teacher, very encouraging and enthusiastic. I love playing duets at the end of the lessons, it is so much fun to play together and it gives me confidence and inspiration. As an adult beginner with some music experience, I'm in a unique situation and Brett has been flexible and intentional in how he teaches me. These are not cookie cutter, one-size-fits-all lessons; they are crafted in real time in response to my particular skills and struggles. He's patient, kind, and excellent at explaining and demonstrating so I understand how to improve my playing. Brett is the  rare combination of both exceptionally accomplished at performing, and exceptionally skilled at teaching and guiding students. He came highly recommended to me and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking to develop a love and facility for playing viola.  This is premium instruction at a very reasonable price. My 17-year-old has always played viola well, but Brett is bringing out much more of his talent. We have seen a difference in his playing in a short period of time. He greatly enjoys his lessons with Brett. Brett is both a talented musician and teacher, as well as patient and kind. Brett Deubner is an absolute pro. He is such an accomplished solo violist with numerous professional accolades and CD’s. Just google him and you can see the breadth of his accomplishments. My daughter has been taking viola lessons with him for the past three years and has reached many new levels. She plays for her high school orchestra and also the NJ Symphony Youth Orchestra. The way he teaches viola artistry and technicality with such clarity makes it easy for any kid to understand. His teaching method is very calm and clear. He is also very personable with a good sense of humor. He truly understands how to be effective in teaching kids. In school, our 12 year old grandson, had been learning the violin and while he enjoyed music and playing in the school orchestra, the experience was limited...then he met Brett. Brett introduced him to the viola, played it for him and let our grandson try the instrument for himself. For our grandson it was the spark that lit the fire. With Brett's guidance and instruction he has truly found his love for the viola and has pursued his learning vigorously. Brett is a good fit for our grandson's learning style. Brett is calm and professional, while guiding and correcting our grandson with patience and understanding, and it has made a significant difference in his playing.
